Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Awarded Gold
Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Limited was established in 1983 as the 68th Rural Bank to be licensed by the Bank of Ghana to offer banking services to the Rural and Sub-Urban Communities at Pakyi No. 2 in the Amansie-West District of the Ashanti Region.
The bank which began humbly from rented premises had focused, among others, on the provision of financial intermediations, inculcation of saving habit among the rural folks and the provision of community infrastructure.
Today, by dint of hard work, right policy framework and appropriate managerial structure, Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank continues to lead its competitors in the industry. By the close of the 3rd quarter of 2012, AKRB has grown its deposit to GH¢ 41,930,514.34; indicating 27% growth over 2011 figure at the same period. Paid-up-Capital and Total Assets of the bank have also grown by 11% and 29% respectively where as profit has increased from GH¢ 864,016.03 in September 2011 to GH¢ 1,820,474.42 in September 2012.
This sterling performance has not been achieved in a vacuum but through the institutionalization of our core values of Customer Delight, Integrity, Efficiency and Teamwork exhibited by the 188 employees of the bank.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is of prime concern to Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank. The bank has invested GH¢ 514,048 in a model Senior High School at Pakyi No. 2 in the Amansie-West District of Ashanti Region and the school has been operational since 2011/2012 academic year.
The bank continues to extend support in cash and kind to communities and institutions in its operational areas, some of which includes; The Ghana Police Service, National Center for Civic Education, Presbyterian Vocational School, Breast Care International, Amansie-West District Assembly, Tafo Pankrono M.A Primary School, Bethel Presby Basic and SDA (Essumejaman) Hospital. Moreover, Shareholders of the bank have not been left out of the bank’s generosity and they continue to enjoy the Shareholders’ Wards Scholarship Scheme instituted since 1999.
The vital role the bank is playing in society has been recognized by many awarding institutions over the years. These awards only serve as motivation to the bank to expand its operations to support upcoming Medium and Small Scale Businesses that are up springing in rural and sub-urban communities.
In recognition of its outstanding contribution to the development of Ghana, this GOLD AWARD is conferred on Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Limited at the 5th Ghana auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
